Julio Bouchon, Granito Semillon, Maule Valley, Chile 2017

About this wine

The Bouchon Family have been growing grapes since 1887, having arrived from Saint Emilion, but the current incumbent, 4th generation Julio, has completely changed direction with a focus on quality, ancient varieties and wine that have purity and a strong sense of place. Unirrigated Semillon from a vineyard about 10 miles from the Ocean are naturally fermented in old (3-7 years) oak barrels for 12 months. It's unfiltered so vegan-friendly and everso slightly cloudy. It has a super fresh, squeaky-clean, juicy lime fruit and a hint of a lime pith, a waxy texture, toasty oak and a zesty, persistent, slightly saline (granitic) finish. Sublime Semillon.
