Brownstone Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA 2013

About this wine

This is owned by the Scotto family, emigrants from Italy to California, based in Lodi where most of the fruit for this Cabernet is sourced. The name Brownstone is taken from the name of the apartments that a number of early Italian immigrants used to live in.

Generous cassis fruit and some warming clove spice but rich tannins and juicy acidity to keep the flavours in bounds. This is an easy to please wine and whilst not overly sophisticated, offers an awful lot more for the price without going over the top than many Cabs that are a lot more expensive. Muscular without being muscle-bound this is for steaks, grills and sauce-slathered ribs.
