This Rioja demonstrates just how good young Rioja can be after ageing for less than six months in oak barrels. The work of famed Spanish winemaker Alvaro Palacios, La Vendimia (Wine Harvest) is a blend of Spain's showpiece grapes Tempranillo and Garnacha. Lively in colour with a ruby hue, the wine has aromas of red roses and carnations and currants, cherries, fresh nectarines, plums and wild fennel on the palate. Ready to drink now or can be aged for up to four years. Can be chilled as a great summer picnic drink.

Deep ruby in colour with purple tints. On the nose this wine is intense and powerful with aromas of blackberries, red currants and raspberries and touches of spice. The palate is full with plenty of juicy black and red fruit character and subtle oak flavours. The tannins are robust but well balanced with the juicy fruit. Blueberry and liquorice flavours follow through on the long finish.

A fruity and minerally wine from Furmint, Harslevch and Musrotaly grapes. Lovely stuff with fish or shellfish.

This gear is exquisite. Delicate, ethereal Cabernet franc; but juicy, juicy, juicy. Showing lovely berry fruit, red currants in fact. Could even go 10mins in the fridge.

Great entry level Madiran, deep dark and almost black in colour but with fine tannins. This wine needs a hearty red meat dish to show its full potential.

Bright straw yellow in colour with intense aromas of ripe green apples honeysuckle and a touch of spice. On the palate it is medium bodied with good fruit intensity and freshness, well balanced with persistent length.

Delicate melon fruit characters are well integrated with subtle oak producing a well rounded, creamy and elegant finish. This is a beautifully balanced wine from a super vintage. Quality white burgundy at this price does not come around that often so grab it while stocks last!

An exceptional pinotage, full of bright red fruit, spice and a silken texture.

Slightly lighter than previous vintages the 2007 shows ripe red and blackberry fruit, with white pepper and spice wrapped with ample leather, tobacco and even a hint of coffee to give depth to the juicy fruit. This is a really appealing and unique wine with juicy fruit and of real interest to Rhone lovers.

New vintage. This "mini-Rubicon" is superb value, being made from the younger vines that in future vintages will be destined for the Estate's show stopping wine. This new creation from a revitalised Meerlust is essentially an early drinking version of Rubicon. A classic blend of Cabernet and Merlot with fruit and oak to the fore without losing any finesse. Impressive value for money.

Refosco is another little known Italian grape which is highly regarded in its naitive Fruili. It produces spicy raspberry and stewed fruits characters with a nice little bit of grip and lively acidic structure.

Everything you expect from the “terra rossa” soils of Coonawarra. Deep, dark concentrated Cabernet showing bundles of blackcurrant and cassis fruit with an underlying eucalyptus character.

For those who like their buttery oak characters this is just the ticket. Rich cream and fruit balanced by fresh acidity as well as good weight make this a wine to savour with food.

La Clochette (meaning 'little bell') is a complex, sleek and elegant Sancerre. Crisp, dry gooseberry fruit drive an unoaked palate rich in flavour, texture, balance and refreshing acidity. Excellent value and winner of Decanter's Best Value Sancerre of 2009.

Possibly the best value Gewurztraminer in the shop. Great character - floral nose, lychees, honey, medium-dry yet balanced with great freshness. Perfect for Thai and Indian food or smoked and cured foods.
